A switch is a device in a computer network that electrically and logically connects together other devices. Multiple data cables are plugged into a switch to enable communication between different networked devices. Switches manage the flow of data across a network by transmitting a received message only to the one or more devices for which the message was intended. The network switch plays an integral role in most modern Ethernet local area networks (LANs). Besides, they also support other types of networks, including Fibre Channel and InfiniBand protocols which are commonly used in telecom and datacom market.
Computer data storage is a technology consisting of data computing and data recording in the storage devices. Nowadays, storage system has become more and more important due to people’s heavy usage on social media, and the big data of Internet of Things, even Industry 4.0 in the near future. The representative storage devices include Direct-attached storage (DAS), Network-attached storage (NAS) and Storage area network (SAN). Server and storage control card are connected with these devices to retain and access to massive data where high speed connectors are used.
A board is the device set in computer hardware system which in order to generate a data transporting function. Multiple layout support such as chip/memory card/SFP or QSFP port/RJ45/USB installed on its surface and help to send data stabilized to other devices. The core structure on board with control function is chip, designed like northbridge and southbridge chip together or maybe only single chip instead, just like a heart in human’s body and control the whole body system. A chip will handle a complex platform for data transporting, also, it’s a destiny of chip to cooperate with board and make sure all the transferring function are all 100% completed while running.
The technology of design of board and chip are more improved in nowadays, but new challenge comes all the time, more complicated layout and larger data capacity brings unpredictable requirements in future, also, this technology has already into our daily lives and bring us convenience a lot, so the evolution will be endless forever.
